WHEN GOD TAKES DOWN BABYLON

An astonishing report by Oxfam was published in 2020 which headlined: “THE WORLD’S 2,153 BILLIONAIRES HAVE MORE WEALTH THAN 4.6 BILLION PEOPLE COMBINED.” The report goes on to say “If everyone were to sit on their wealth piled up in $100 bills, most of humanity would be sitting on the floor. A middle-class person in a rich country would be sitting at the height of a chair. The world’s two richest men would be sitting in outer space… Oxfam’s report noted that someone who saved $10,000 a day since the construction of the Egyptian pyramids would still be 80% less wealthy than the world’s five richest billionaires.” 51

Such is but a reflection of what life may have looked like in old Babylon, but on steroids! Always talking about social equity, but never able to achieve it under any economic system crafted by men because of greed stemming from our fallen natures.

And what does one suppose the report suggests will fix this problem? You guessed it, government intervention by higher taxation. As the old people use to say that’s a bit like asking the fox to guard the hen house! No, what is happening in our current age is that a new global Babylonian system is being architected to rule the world, and will someday require “everyone – great and small, rich and poor, slave and free – to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark.” 52 Human governments cannot permanently fix our world’s social or economic problems. They only apply a bandage to the wound inflicted by Adam and Eve’s choice that created the sinful human condition. 53 Only a supernatural intervention by God can make right everything wrong in this world. We don’t need another slickster politician, market genius, technological discovery or some anti-Christ who will someday show up with a promise to deliver peace and prosperity to the planet. He has already been condemned by God and is predicted to bring more death and destruction than has ever before been witnessed. No, the only way out of this place is that supernatural intervention by means of the second coming of Israel’s Messiah, Jesus Christ! And the Bible guarantees this is exactly what our world can one day expect to take place.

Technological advancements in communications are now allowing people from all over the world to overcome language barriers, thus bringing us full circle as to why God dispersed people from the first Babylon. The more efficiently people seeking their own gain can communicate with one another, the greater the acceleration of their empirical ideas. That’s why God interrupted their lingual intercourse way back at Babel’s tower. So, what could possibly be a more fitting name for a modern-day language course designed to aid people in crossing linguistic barriers still existing today, than “Babbel.” 54

The synopsis of the book of Revelation is that God will one day break His silence, make a physical intervention into our world to overthrow our Babylonian type of world-wide governmental system (symbolized by a city called Babylon), thus ushering in His divine government bringing an eternal era of peace and prosperity. He will then declare that “Babylon is fallen… in a single day she will be utterly consumed with fire… the merchants of the world will weep and mourn for her, for there is no one left to buy their goods… this will happen because her merchants, who were the greatest in the world, deceived the nations with her sorceries. In the streets the blood of the prophets was spilled. She was the one who slaughtered (hunted) God’s people all over the world.” 55

Can we who live, in what we think is a much more sophisticated world than any that have gone before us, comprehend no more Amazon, Walmart, Big Tech, Energy or Communication Companies? Can we conceive of a world with no corrupt Financial or Health Care Institutions that have made a reputation of plundering the meager savings of those who were already facing real challenges? Hasn’t big Corp only added to the burdens of those already oppressed by applying high interest rate loans, and sticking them with outrageous medical and drug costs, in order to satisfy the bottom line of their shareholder’s already burgeoning stocks? Is a future possible with no more massive Military spending by powerful nations who always camouflage the killing of innocent masses as the protection of their own security? Or, what about the dissolvement of the greatest fraud of all – religious systems that deceive multitudes concerning the truth about God for the purpose of gaining earthly dominance for their institutions?

God Himself has published a report of His own regarding the world’s inequality among its citizenship. It is called the Bible, and it says, “Look here, you rich people, weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you… The treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment… You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every whim. Now your hearts are nice and fat, ready for the slaughter. You have condemned and killed good people who had no power to defend themselves against you.” 56 Herein is revealed the real nature of Babylon – the greed that God detests so much that He will one day forever destroy our earthly ways of life.
